5/1/13 – This is an excerpt from an entry originally posted on MamaCarts’ blog on April 30. It is reposted here as a follow-up to an earlier post where we introduced our followers to this fabulous social enterprise. MamaCart’s mission is to create food secure communities, starting in urban slums around the world.
“…The MamaCarts team is incredibly honored to announce that we were named the winners of the Global Business School Network video challenge! This competition asked current and former MBA students to demonstrate how they are using their degrees to impact the world. While MamaCarts is still in the planning stage, the judges saw enough promise in it to award us the grand prize. One of our team members will be provided a free trip to Tunis, Tunisia to present the video at the GBSN annual conference and perhaps even more exciting; we will write two featured blog posts on Next Billion and New Global Citizen. This is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with fellow students and graduates from around the world to better test our assumptions and possibly make some on-the-ground connections.
Here’s where YOU come in…again: This award could not have come at a better time. If we learned anything in school, it was to leverage your assets. MamaCarts is currently competing in another online competition: the Hult Prize. This is the $1M award, for teams addressing a challenge (Food Security), issued by Bill Clinton… Our new video has until May 12 to get enough votes to put us in the “top 10 most-voted.”
Please take a minute out of your day to help MamaCarts! Voting on the Hult Facebook page takes 3 clicks and you can gain some major karma points!
